My earliest memories include my mom photographing me and all of my eight siblings, whether it was simple moments like playing outside, holidays, or the annual (dreaded) family photo. I loved looking at her pictures and quickly became obsessed with taking photos. I remember tagging along for a senior session around the age of six, assisting with the lighting, and using an old point-and-shoot to be just like mom. I was hooked.
While growing up on a farm in Minnesota was where my story began, it was in California where I truly fell in love with photography. Just like when I was little, I started grabbing my mom's camera - bringing it on my trips, eager to document adventures and the in-between moments. That simple act of picking up a camera sparked a passion that's become a central part of my life.
I love that I am able to remember the trips, memories, and moments that have shaped who I am. Getting to do that for others is beyond meaningful. I'm grateful every day that this is my job!
My last name, Leonard, translates to "lion's strength" or "brave as a lion", hence the name Lions Roar Film. This resonates with my approach to capturing weddings - moments that require courage, vulnerability, and connections.
Additionally, my mom owns a graphic design company named Lions Roar Creative. Her creative spirit and entrepreneurial drive definitely inspire me, and it felt fitting to carry on the name in my own way.
My approach to wedding photography stems from a deep appreciation for the artistic spirit. Growing up surrounded by my parents creating art instilled in me a lifelong pursuit of excellence and a desire to capture the beauty in everyday moments. As your wedding photographer, I see myself as a storyteller, not a stage director.
